In essence, this 3D scan of a woman's hand was combined with the "Flexy Hand" DIY prosthetic hand architecture to create a highly customized 3D printed prosthetic. For practical purposes a 3D scan of the surviving hand could be mirrored.
Finger and thumb segments fit inside the cast silicone rubber skin. You can see the retaining posts across the top of the hand where the edges of the silicone rubber skin end.
This mold sits inside the top and bottom molds. It creates the spaces in which the 3D printed peices of the prosthetic hand fit.
The details of this mold match the 3D scanned hand.
